Hi everyone…
Obviously still a complete 2 year old at heart (and proud of it too), the other day I went on a rather exciting trip to…THE MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD. Genuinely thrilled by the board games, toy trains&trucks, the impressive variety of chairs and of course the barbies, the most exhilirating part of ‘Margarita’s Day Out’ was in fact when I stumbled across the collection of photos entitled ‘Wendy’s World’ by Etienne Clement. I feel I must share them with you and was in fact planning on doing something similar before I saw them but I’m sure there’s some kind of copyright law that now prevents me from doing so!
Anyway…Clement uses a conglomeration of toys placed in specific positions in the foreground and for the background he has recycled a photo that he has previously taken, which are usually really eye-catching landscapes with a sort of building in front. In each photo, there is also a blurred Wendy who watches on and almost represents ‘us’ (the viewer) looking on at the event. Clement’s aim is to capture a child’s play in two sort of ways:
- their love of building (shown in the varying landscapes & buildings)
- their love of story telling (in each photo it is evident that Clement is trying to represent a biblical, historical or political event)
At the moment I can’t stop staring at them because they are just really cleverly put together and I love how Clement has managed to make each event current with the use of the toys. Feel free to send me your thoughts on them! xxx
Winner of the ‘best British Album’ award of the year (and well deserved in my opinion), Florence Welch failed to disappoint the fashion world at the Brits last week- I loved every single one of the cream/white dresses she wore that night and her stunning red locks have made me seriously consider dying my own. (Who would have thought she’s been dying her hair since the age of 9?!) Definitely a girl crush…
